Black BibleTired of lugging that big ol’ bible with ya every Sunday to service? Tired of lookin’ for page 2,138 to show heathen teenagers on your block that they’re gonna burn in hell? Well, struggle no more!

The Australian Bible Society has created the SMSBible: all 31,173 verses of scripture translated to SMS speak and ready to download to your mobile phone!

Michael Rodriguez, son of Australia’s Bible Society Director George Rodriguez, spent six weeks translating the entire bible into text messages and designing the software for mobile phones. Ya have to appreciate the geekiness.

No more Bible for me. Now, I just need to find a cell phone…

Archimedes Death Ray SketchChildren under the ages of 16 must have adult supervision.

On episode 16 of MythBusters, the hosts of the show, Jamie and Adam, were unable to recreate the Archimedes Death Ray and thus considered the myth “busted.” A class of MIT students was not thwarted by their feeble attempts and realized that it could have been a real possibility by doing a little math.

Like many crazy deprived MIT students, they took up the challenge and created a prototype Archimedes Death Ray.

By using an array of mirrors, they were able to focus enough sunlight on a targeted faux ship to set it on fire.

The course instructor, David Wallace, even put together a pretty cool FAQ about the feasibility of such a weapon.

With your new LTT illuminated bathtub, you don’t have to! Get rid of those tired old candles. With one flip of a switch, your polyethylene tub will light up like hippie Uncle Charlie on Christmas. They’ll even throw in the sink. My question: Can they light up my toilet?

A few days ago, on October 3rd, Europe, Africa, and Southern Asia got to experience an annular solar eclipse. Not only is the moon blocking out the sun cool, a buncha peeps took some really cool photos of it. Here is the actual eclipse:

The coolest photos use either natural refraction or reflection to multiply the moon’s shadow. Here are a couple of ones I liked:

For about two weeks now, I have been watching this incredible National Geographic webcam set up at a remote watering hole in southern Africa. By tuning in at any time, you might end up seeing elephants, zebras, giraffes, monkeys, and all kinds of other creatures. Currently, the hot time to watch is 10am – 12am EST.

Yep, here it is. The new ten dollar bill:

And, yes, it’s orange. Personally, I always like the fact that all of our money was the same color. It kinda set us apart from most other countries. Granted, it was kinda boring, but it was our boring money. Apparently, this new funny money is harder to counterfeit. You can check out its features here.

Destroyed ComputerFor all you non-geeks out there, PCWorld has just published a great article called ‘20 Things They Don’t Want You to Know.’ It illustrates you never have to pay full price, extended warranties rarely pay for themselves, the big sites do have customer service numbers, and how to transfer music using your iPod.

As the Magic Kingdom shows, the world of tomorrow is just around the corner. Here are a few cool new things to keep a look out for (with some eye candy to boot).

Auto DoorTired of opening doors or using automatic doors that open way too wide? With the new Auto Door you don’t have to! The Tanaka Auto Door uses strips equipped with infrared sensors that open to the approximate shape of the person or object passing through, minimizing entry of dust, pollen, and bugs while keeping precious air-conditioning in. It even works for your pets! Check out the video.

iPod NanoIs that iPod Mini too big for you? Then you need to get yourself an iPod Nano! At a size 62% smaller than the iPod Mini, it’s smaller than a standard business card and just a little thicker. With the 2gig and 4gig models, you can take 500 or 1,000 songs with you anywhere you go. Where is this all headed you might ask? The iPod Flea! (via Alex)

Wolfram ToneBut with this new iPod Nano, what are you going to put on it? Tired of those same old beats on the radio? Try out Wolfram Tones! With a mixture of musical knowledge and mathematics, it can instantly create unique music. Give it a listen!

How many of us thought you could buy an R2-D2 heliodisplay during our lifetime?

R2D2 Heliodisplay

Well, now you can. IO2 Technology has officially created the marvel.

Heliodisplay Showing Car

The Heliodisplay Free Space Display is capable of displaying any video source in high-resolution without the need for a screen. You can walk around, or even through, the floating image. The best part, however, is that you can interact with the object. No longer will we be limited by touch screens. Your finger can act like the cursor without any need for special gloves. Possible uses include advertising, entertainment, design, teleconferencing, and hiding secret messages that could be used to save the galaxy.

Perhaps, George Lucas knew what was really going on…
